Obituary

Glenn Aaron Dunwoodie, 84, of Richmond formerly of Camden, died Sunday, July 29, 2018 at his home.

Glenn was born on June 16, 1934 in Camden, the son of Glenn William and Mazzie Temple (Plummer) Dunwoodie.  He married Beverly Ann Swafford of Knoxville on August 21, 1954; she survives of the home.

Additional survivors include four sons: William Steven (Janice) Dunwoodie, Rayville, Robert Eugene (Joy) Dunwoodie, Richmond; Dale Alan (Natalie) Dunwoodie, Camden and David Wayne Dunwoodie, Rayville; two daughters, Deborah Ann (Jim) Evert, Richmond and Diana Lynn (David) Schreier, Richmond; 15 grandchildren: Gennifer (Justin) Legate, Kristy Payne, Jessi (Eric) Harlan, Gregory (Danielle) Dunwoodie, Erin (Shane) Mathews, Bobby Dunwoodie, Brenda (Norman) Hughes, Laura (Tom) Schnider, Stephen Wyse, Todd Chitwood, Dale, Jr. (April) Dunwoodie, Glenn Dunwoodie, Justin Schreier, Bradley Schreier and Daniel Dunwoodie; 21 great grandchildren and one on the way; three brothers: Richard (Pat) Dunwoodie, Camden; James (Brenda) Dunwoodie, Richmond and Paul David (Tammy) Dunwoodie, Braymer; and one sister-in-law Betty Forster, Richmond.

In addition to his parents Glenn was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph Arthur and Judy Dunwoodie and sister-in-law Gail Dunwoodie.

Glenn's work history included building airplane wings in Claycomo for the war effort during the Korean War.  He then worked for General Motors for approximately 14 years.  During Glenn's life, he worked on and off for Steva Stone and then went full time for Green Quarries and retired after 22 years.  Glenn also worked for Orrick Farm Service.  Glenn was the Airport Manager for the Lexington Airport for 11 years, where he was a flight instructor, held his commercial license and a crop duster for 10 years.  Glenn was a member of the Local #101 Hoist and Engineers Union and the UAW Local #93.  Other memberships included Ray Masonic Lodge #223 at Camden.  He also was a member of the Moose Lodge in Lexington. Glenn was a past member of the Odd Fellows and a member of the United Methodist Church in Camden.  Glenn enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, trap shooting, coon hunting, gardening, bowling, fish frys and was known for his "gift of gab."

The family suggests memorial contribution be made to Shirkey Hospice.  They may be mailed to or dropped off at Thurman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 190 - 507 East Main, Richmond, 64085.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a masonic service at 6:45 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with a Moose Service at 1:45 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with Rev. Art Endsley to officiate.  Burial will be in the Cravens Cemetery East of Camden.  On line condolences may be left to the family at www.thurmanfuneralhome.com
