Horace Andrew "Andy" Skiles Jr of Richmond died Sunday April 22nd, 2018 at North Kansas City Hospice House surrounded by his family.

Andy was born on February 26th, 1955, in Richmond to Horace Andrew and Wanda (Bingham) Skiles Sr. He married Marlene Rogers on August 24th, 1973.

Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Christina and Rodney Smith of Independence, Leslie Mello with Curt Henderson of Kearney, and a son Scott Skiles with Angela White of Richmond. His sister Bonnie and Kent Skalland of Kansas City, MO and brother Marty and Angie Skiles of San Marcos, TX. 6 grandchildren, Jake Henderson, Aaron Mello, Matt Henderson, Allyson Mello, Rylee Smith, and Laney Smith.

In addition to his parents, Andy was preceded in death by his 2 sisters Rosemary Cobb and Reta Chronister and a granddaughter Hannah Skiles-Smith.

Andy was a 1973 graduate of Hardin Central High School. He has been self-employed for the last 20+ years owning Our Place Bar and Grill with his wife Marlene for the last 16 and prior to that he was "Handy Andy's Home Repair".  Previously he drove for Waller Trucking. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Richmond.

Andy believed you can't get something for nothing and hard work was the key to success. He loved to cook and relished every opportunity to make people laugh with his endless "joke bank" as we now know "Heaven will never be the same"!

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the SERTOMA Club of Kansas City or to the North Care Hospice House.

Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00pm on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Funeral will be at  10:00 am on Thursday April 26 ^, 2018 at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond with Graveside services immediately following at Memory Gardens.
