Hazel Irene Hopkins, 101, of Camden, MO died on Monday, April 23, 2018 at the Lawson Manor in Lawson, MO.

Hazel was born on October26, 1916 in Linn Creek, MO to Celestial Braston "C.B." and Ellen Averine (Byrd) Shipman. She married John Benjamin Hopkins of Linn Creek. He preceded her in death in 1973.

Survivors include; one son, John Hopkins of Camden; four daughters, Wilma P. Mitchell of Wood Heights, MO, Julia E. Dye of Excelsior Springs, MO, Maxine Arnold of Orrick, MO and Carolyn A. Terrell of Excelsior Springs; 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren survives.

In addition to her parents and husband, Hazel was preceded in death by one son, Charles Hopkins (Veteran), four brothers, Robert Shipman, Hadley Shipman, Earl Shipman and one who died in infancy; three sisters, Ruby Fudge, Opal Anderson and Mollie Henson; and two grandsons, Cliff Rhodus and Carl Hopkins.

Hazel was a homemaker and housewife. She loved to read the bible, work outside, gardening and enjoyed flowers. Hazel loved her kids and family. She was known for helping her neighbors. She was of the Baptist faith. Hazel was a Sunday school teacher and taught bible school.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Donor's Choice.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the South Point Cemetery near Orrick. Visitation will be Friday, April 27, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Online condolonces may be left on our website at www.thurmanfuneralhome.com
