HELEN FRANCES RAY

Helen Frances Ray, 91, of Richmond, MO died Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.

Helen was born on April 1, 1926 in Ray County, MO to George W. and Mary Anna (Smith) Jenkins. She married Junior Shaner of Richmond, MO. They later divorced. She later married Earl Ray of Higginsville, MO on May 20, 1992. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2004.

Survivors include; grandson, Curtis Shaner and his wife, Carla of Hardin, MO, 3 great-grandchildren, Desirae Bates, Dustin Shaner and Daylea Shaner; 2 great-great-granddaughters, Chesney and Albany Bates; daughter-in-law, Marian Shaner of Hardin; nephew, Kenneth Jenkins and his wife, Marjorie of Richmond; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by one son, Forrest Marvin "Shucks" Shaner; four brothers, Marvin Jenkins, John Jenkins, Raymond Jenkins and Joseph Jenkins; and a sister, Josephine Dolphin.

Helen worked at Lake City Army Ammunition Plant where she retired. She also worked for the Ray County Herald. She was a member of the Hickory Grove Baptist Church. She loved to fish, garden and spend time with family. Helen was a lifetime resident of Ray County.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Hickory Grove Cemetery.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hickory Grove Baptist Church north of Richmond. Visitation will be Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Inurnment will be in the Hickory Grove Cemetery.
