HERBERT "HERB" LEE BENTON

Herbert "Herb" Lee Benton, 82, of Richmond, MO died Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Valley Manor Nursing Home in Excelsior Springs, MO.

Herb was born on September 22, 1935 in Lincoln, MO to Henry Earl and Geneva (Hoehns) Benton. He married Mary Maxine Killion of Richmond, MO on June 29. 1960; She survives of the home.

Additional survivors include; one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Sheri Benton of Claycomo, MO; 10 grandchildren, Kayla Benton, Austin Benton (Saleena), Heather Moore, Tom Benton, Hannah Doss, Mark Benton II, (Rebekka), Jonathon Benton, Michael Tyrone (Rosalie), Adam Tyrone and Christopher Tyrone; 8 great-grandchildren; two on the way; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, Herb was preceded in death by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Timothy and Deana Benton and Thomas Matthew Benton; one brother and sister-in-law, Jonhenri and Ester Benton.

Herb was born in Lincoln, MO and raised in Wyandot County, Kansas City, KS.   Herb first worked for the Local Carpenters Union #1529 in Kansas City, MO.  He then worked for Ford Motor Company for 34 years and retired as a Millwright in 2005.   He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union Local #249.  Herb was an active member in his church, Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church "ELDoNA" in Richmond.  Herb and Mary have lived in Richmond since 1976.  He loved to travel with his wife.  Herb was a very industrious person, where he built his own home.  He was one of a kind.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church "ELDoNA" in Richmond.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the New Hope Primitive Baptist Cemetery southwest of Richmond, MO.
