IONA G. BARKER
Iona Barker, 53, of Richmond, MO, died at 2:35 p.m., on Monday, February 1, 2010 at her home.
Iona was born on June 24, 1956 in Ray County, MO to Pete Whelchel and Mary Lou Silkwood: she married Arlie Barker of Missouri City; he preceded her in death on June 25, 2008.
Survivors include one son, Shane Barker of Rayville, MO; mother, Mary Lou Silkwood of Richmond; two step-brothers, LeRoy Silkwood of Independence, MO and Bobby Silkwood of Independence; three step-sisters, Laurinda Larkin and Tom of Independence, Charlene Silkwood of Independence and Dottie Silkwood and Peter of Spiro, OK; and eight grandchildren, Kelly Carter, Makyla Carter, Bryan Carter, Ryan Carter, Shane Barker, Jr., Kaydence Barker, Jade Barker and Michael Barker
In addition to her father and step-father, Lavell Silkwood, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Lashawnda Barker.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Iona Barker Memorial Fund.
Iona was a homemaker. She was of the Christian faith. She had lived in the Ray County area most of her life.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Friday, February 5, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Richmond Memory Gardens in Richmond. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.
