JAMES B. (JIM) BUTHE

James B. (Jim) Buthe, 93, of Richmond, MO, and formerly of Tarkio, MO, died on Friday, May 4, 2012 at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Jim was born on June 18, 1918 Northwest of Warrensburg in Johnson County, MO to Buell and Elsie (Gunsaulis) Buthe. He married Ruby Gladys Wilson from Warrensburg on February 15, 1941; she preceded him in death on June 1, 2005.
Survivors include: one daughter Virginia B. Swafford and her husband Robert E. of Richmond; one grandson J. Rob Swafford and his wife Courtney L. of Richmond; two great-grandchildren Calvin G. Swafford and Claire J. Swafford; one step-grandson Gary L. Swafford of Richmond; one sister-in-law Evelyn Bodenhamer of Warrensburg; and several nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his wife, Jim was preceded in death by two sons James Wilson Buthe and Ronnie Ray Buthe, one brother Chester L. Buthe, four sisters: E. Geneva Phelps, Dorotha M. Buthe, Evelyn Greene DeVries and Mary Harkness; one grandson in infancy Paul Mark Swafford.
Jim along with his wife Ruby owned and operated Buthe Oil Company & Wrecker Service in Tarkio. Jim was a member of the Tarkio United Presbyterian Church and the Tarkio Chamber of Commerce. They retired in 1985 and moved to Richmond in 1989. Jim enjoyed going to auctions and collecting antiques.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held prior to services at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
