DADDY JAMES HAROLD DAVIS, SR.

James Harold Davis, Sr., 92, of Richmond, MO, died at 12:25 a.m., Sunday, July 10, 2011 at the Golden Age Nursing Home in Braymer, MO.
James was born on January 11, 1919 in Lathrop, MO. He was one of six children born to Claude and Leona (Roberts) Davis. He married Georgia Mae Hutton of Richmond, on February 2, 1941. Three children were born into this union.
He is survived by two daughters, Virginia Walker of Richmond (George Slocum Pollard, a friend), Joann Boxly of Kansas City, MO and one son, James Harold Davis, Jr., Sonny of Richmond (Bertha, a friend).
Additional survivors include; a daughter in-law, Teresa Habernal (Ron) of Liberty, MO; two adopted daughters, Karry Fields (Matt) and Veronica Thaxton, all of Richmond. A loving nephew, Reverend Lloyd Fields (Arlene) of Kansas City, MO and a special daughter, Kathy Robinson (George) of Richmond; 24 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren, his church family, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Georgia Mae Davis, two brothers Robert (Bobby) Joseph Davis, Claude (Tommy) Davis, Jr., and three sisters Leta Olivia Davis, Lila Mae Carter and Ruth Anna Fields.
James worked for Miller Materials in Lexington, then in Kansas City, MO until he retired in 1982. He also worked at Lake City Arsenal, Maude's Restaurant & Lounge in Lexington and Weber Cleaners in Richmond, and was known to help out at the Salvation Army in Richmond. He was a WW II Navy Veteran and a Civilian Conservation Corps worker after the war.
James was a life long member of Second Baptist Church. He was the president of the Trustee Board. He sang in the choir where he did many solos. He attended Bible Study regularly. He loved the Lord and his church very much.
Daddy James was a member of the Dixon Lodge #11 in Lexington, MO where he served has Master of the Lodge. At the time of his Home Going, he was a member of John W. Carter Lodge #108 in Richmond. He was a member of the Ray County Veterans and had served 30 years on the Color Guard.
Daddy James never meet a stranger. He enjoyed visiting with everyone. You were always welcomed in the family home. He loved taking pictures and using his video camera. Daddy James loved to cook and gather wild greens (Crowfoot)

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the James Harold Davis, Sr. Memorial Fund.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Christian Presbyterian Church in Richmond. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 16, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the church. Masonic services will be held at 1:30 p.m. by the John W. Carter Lodge #108 prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens, the Ray County Veterans will provide Military Honors.
