JAMES DOUGLAS "DOUG" McARTHUR

James Douglas "Doug" McArthur, 72, of Orrick, MO passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the Riverbend Heights Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lexington, MO.

Doug was born on July 8, 1944 in Kanas City, MO to James William and Dorothy May (Olsen) McArthur.

Survivors include; one son, James William McArthur of Yuma, AZ; one daughter and son-in-law, Christie and Art Endsley of Orrick; one brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence Sherman and Lisa McArthur of Bonner Springs, KS; 5 grandchildren, Brooke Mavis Smith and her husband and Seth of Orrick, Madison Rae Endsley of Indianola, IA and Trey Endsley of Orrick, Levi Douglas McArthur and Taylor Lynn McArthur both of Yuma, AZ; one great-grandson, Chase Allen Smith of Orrick; and many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Carole Jean McArthur.

Doug worked in the automotive industry for several years and retired as a supervisor from Lear Company. He was a United States Navy Veteran from Vietnam. Doug was a member of Ada Lodge #444 A.F. & A.M. in Orrick.  He loved his grandchildren and great-grandson. He was a big time sports fan for the Orrick Bearcats and the Kansas City Chiefs. Doug lived in Kansas City before moving to Orrick. He was a member of the Orrick Christian Church which he enjoyed attending so much.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Orrick Christian Church.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Orrick Christian Church where military honors will be provided by the Ray County Veterans. Visitation will be Saturday, September 3, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Masonic service at 6:45 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, MO. Online condolences may be left on our website at www.thurmanfuneralhome.com
