JAMES A. "JIMMY" WETTENGEL
James A. "Jimmy" Wettengel, 75, of Warsaw, MO and formerly of Richmond, MO, died at 4:29 p.m., Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at the Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond.
Jimmy was born August 31, 1935 in Kansas City, MO to Harry John and Zella Edna (Simmons) Wettengel. He married C. Nadine Miller of San Angelo, TX on November 12, 1961; she survives, of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, David Eugene and Lanie Wettengel of Lincoln, MO, Craig Allen Wettengel of Richmond, and Bobby Dean Wettengel of Kansas City, MO; two sisters, Margaret Jo Hall of Santa Cruz, CA and June Tharpe of Conrow, TX; four grandchildren, Amanda Wettengel, Zain Wettengel, Christopher Wettengel and Crystal Wettengel; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny Wettengel his twin brother and Leroy Wettengel who died in World War II; four sisters, Barbara Anderson, Doris VanStraten and two who died in infancy.
Jimmy was tool setter at Lake City Arsenal for 20 years before retiring in 1985. He was also a farmer and a self-employed carpenter. He attended Wentworth Military Academy. He was a member of the Lincoln (MO) First Baptist Church where he served as Deacon. He lived in Randolph, MO until he was 9, then moved to the farm in Ray County, MO for 34 years before moving to Warsaw 5 years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 16, at 2:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO. Visitation will be Friday, October 15, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO. Burial will be at Richmond Memory Gardens, Richmond, MO, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Ray County Veterans. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, MO is in charge of the arrangements.
