Jane Elnora Sorrels, 75, of Richmond, died Sunday, January 17, 2021, at North Kansas City Hospital.

Jane was born on January 6, 1946, in Wichita Falls, Texas, the daughter of James Edward and Ollie Faye (Robison) McMurtry.

Survivors include son Kevin Sorrels and his wife Michele, of St. Augustine, Florida, nieces Tracey Bell and Dana Byars, and nephew Jimmy Bell, and other beloved extended family.  Jane was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Sue Hill.

Jane graduated from Tulsa Hale High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but lived most of her life in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where she worked in human resources for Fleming Foods, as a customer service representative for Southwest Airlines, and in guest relations at Myriad Gardens.  She lived the last few years of her life in Richmond, Missouri.  Jane loved watching the Oklahoma Sooners and the New Orleans Saints play football, and she enjoyed playing cards and games and spending time with her family and friends.  Jane was of the Christian faith.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Sparrow Project of Moore, Oklahoma, which promotes happy and fulfilled lives through work skills, life skills, creative interests, and social activities for adults with intellectual disabilities.  They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O.
