JANICE SHARLE ANDERSON

Janice Sharle Anderson, 79, of Hardin, MO died Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at her home.

Janice was born on March 17, 1937 in Hardin to John William and Lillian Irene (Armour) McGraw. She first married Luther W. Strain on September 12, 1953. To this union their children were born. They later divorced. She married Harold L. McCordendale on August 9, 1975. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1991. She later married Kenneth Anderson on September 3, 1995. He preceded her in death on December 3, 2010.

Survivors include; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Greg and Debbie Strain of Summerville, FL, Jeff Strain of Oklahoma City, OK and Bret and Linda Strain of Hardin, MO; one daughter, Sharle Doss and her best friend, Bill McGraw of Hardin; one brother, John W. McGraw, II of Hardin; two sisters, Martha F. Donnley of Lexington, MO and Linda S. Pope of Hardin; 7 grandchildren, Tom (Jen) Lewis, Cody Strain, Colt Strain, Ashley (Dustin) Bradley, Samantha (Jacob) Schiender, Jeff (Laura) McElwee and Mike (Angel) McElwee; 13 great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Sue McGraw of Lexington and Dorothy McGraw of Hardin.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Janice was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis P. McGraw and James F. McGraw; and one sister, Margaret E. Doyle.

Janice lived most of her life in the Hardin area except for 11 years when she lived in Hutchinson, KS. She worked for the Underwood Store in Hardin, S&K in Lexington, supervised several bean crews, then she owned and operator McGraw's Café in Hardin till she retired. She served as council women on the Hardin City Council for 16 years and one term as Mayor in Hardin; where she was the first women to serve on the Hardin City Council.  Janice was a 30 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary.  She was a member of the Christian Church in Hardin. Her passions included; cooking, Dr. Pepper, John Wayne and watching her regular reality T.V. shows.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Janice Sharle Anderson Memorial Fund or to the Hardin First Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Christian Church in Hardin. Visitation will be Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Hardin Cemetery.
