Janice Lee Buie, 74, of Norborne, died Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Center Point Medical Center in Independence.

Janice was born on October 25, 1946, in Oakland, California, the daughter of Eudell and Isabell (Maestas) Ross.

Janice was raised in LeFlore, Oklahoma by her grandparents, Clarence and Lou Ross and graduated from the LeFlore High School in 1966.  She moved to Independence in 1970 and then to Norborne in 1976.  Janice worked in the dietary department at the Carroll County Hospital in Carrollton for over 20 years.  She made many good friends at the hospital while working there.  She enjoyed her family and friends, playing bingo, pool and shopping.  She was a great caregiver to everyone she knew.  She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.

Survivors include three children, Pamela McCollum, Phillip Buie and Sharon (David) Russell all of Norborne; three grandchildren: Beth Ann McCollum, Thomas McCollum and Shelby Russell; three brothers: Jimmy Ross and Robert Ross both of Las Vegas and Anthony (Delores) Blea of Las Cruces, New Mexico; five nieces and nephews: Tabitha Tunnell, Brandon Shannon, Danika Rulo, Trini Blea and Max Blea.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and one sister, Connie Shannon.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.  They can be either dropped off or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-Post Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
