JEAN F. SUMMERS
Jean F. Summers, 85, of Kansas City, MO, and formerly of Hardin, MO, died at 4:45 a.m. on Sunday, June 27, 2010, at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, MO.
Jean was born June 1, 1925 in rural Ray County, MO to William Hallie Frazer, Sr. and Susie Bryan (Gentry) Frazer. She married James Kenneth (J.K.) Summers of Hardin, MO, on September 13, 1942; he preceded her in death on August 23, 1991.
Survivors include three sons and three daughters-in-law, Gary and Nancy Summers of Cameron, MO, Kent and Sharon of Greenwood, IN and Tim and Caroline of Kansas City, MO; six grandchildren, Josh Summers, Cita Peterson, Jordan Summers, Lindsay Summers, Luke Summers and Tai Summers; and one sister, Betty Strider of Kansas City, MO.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kenni Sue Summers in infancy; and one brother, William Hallie Frazer, Jr.
Jean was employed at the Post Office in Hardin for over 25 years and retired as Postmaster in 1985. She was a member of the Hardin United Methodist Church, a member of the CR Chapter of the Hardin P.E.O. and a member of the National Association of Postmasters of the United States (NAPUS). After moving to Kansas City she attended Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Liberty where she was a member of the Friendship Class.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Hardin United Methodist Church or the New Hope Cemetery.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 30, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Hardin, MO. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 29, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a P.E.O. service held prior to visitation at 6:30 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery, north of Hardin, MO. Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO is in charge of the arrangements.
