JESSE CASPER "J.C." DOOLEY
Jesse Casper "J.C." Dooley, 93, of Richmond, MO, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016 due to complications from a fall at his home.
J.C. was born on June 30, 1923 in Ray County, MO to Jesse A. and Ottie M. (Minnick) Dooley. He was the last survivor of 5 children. He married Freta M. Layman of Ray County, MO on November 26, 1944. They were married 71 years. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include; 1 son, Dennis Dooley and his wife Carol of Excelsior Springs, MO, 1 daughter, Karen Kruse of Lawson, MO, 3 granddaughters, 2 step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
J.C. was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy where he served in the Pacific on the repair ship U.S.S. Hector, and was one of the oldest members of the Richmond VFW Post #4398 in Richmond.
J. C. was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, although he attended the Richmond Christian Union Church. He transported Ford cars for 31 years before retiring from Teamsters Union Local #41. He was also a member of the American Legion Post # 237.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Richmond VFW Post #4398.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Inurnment with military honors will be held in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO at a later date.
