JEWELL L. GREEN
Jewell L. Green, 97, of Cameron and formerly of Camden, MO died at 3:40 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Independence, MO.
Jewell was born on December 25, 1913 in Knoxville, MO to Clarence W. and Beulah (Smithey) Green. He married Louise Vinyard of Richmond on March 1, 1981; she preceded him in death on January 24, 1998.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Leon C. and Tracy Green of Olathe, KS; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Gary Proffitt of Camden; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson also survives.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jewell was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Jo Hanson.
Jewell was a Government Employee at Lake City Arsenal in 1961 until he retired in 1975. He was of the Christian faith. He lived most of his life in the Camden area. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII serving on the U.S.S. Louisville as a Machinist Mate 1st class.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Missouri Boy's Town.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 18, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in the Richmond Memory Gardens where military honors will be conducted by the Ray County Veterans. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.
