On September 19, 1960 he married Sharon (Pracht) Bradshaw. They had one daughter, Yvette. For many years Jim enjoyed camping, travels, and antiquing with his family who he loved dearly. He and Sharon loved to dance for many years. He had a great love for children and was known as the "Quarter Man" at church. Jim learned a work ethic from age 6 years until his retirement at 62. Among his jobs were F.M. Stamper, Lake City Ammunition, and he was a meat cutler for 36 years retiring from Apple Market. He was a resident of Richmond for 43 years.
Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman; well known for bass fishing. He was an accomplished Marksman and trained his bird dogs which he loved to watch work in the field. He had an outgoing personality with the gift of gab. He never knew a stranger and was a man of integrity. Jim was a Christian who shared his belief in the Lord. He was a member of the Hickory Grove Baptist Church and a member of the American Legion Post # 217 in Braymer. When his health allowed he enjoyed playing cards and pool with the "Guys" at the Legion Hall.
Jim fought a courageous battle for nine years with cancer and COPD. He was a miracle to the medical field in overcoming many obstacles placed in his path.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Kenny Bradshaw, and one sister Betty Bradshaw who died in infancy. He is survived by his wife of 51 years of the home, a daughter, Yvette Simpson, her fiancé, Robert Plymell and his son, Seth and young friend, Matthew Rousch of Clinton who were like grandsons to him.
