Obituary

Jimmie Dee McBee, 75, of rural Richmond, died Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family and good friends.

Jimmie was born on May 22, 1943 in Lamar, Colorado to James W. and Charlotte L. (Baker) McBee.  He was united in marriage to Judith Elaine Johnston from Richmond on June 27, 1964, they were married at Dockery Church.

Survivors include his wife Judy of the home: his son, James J. and daughter-in-law, Diana K. McBee of Liberty; his daughter, Lynn A. and son-in-law, Jeff Braden of Davenport, Iowa; two granddaughters, Laney Braden and Sydney McBee; two brothers and two sisters-in-law: Richard McBee of Sun City West, Arizona and Paul and Karen McBee of Hardin and Susie (Mrs. Glen) McBee of Richmond; one sister also survives Marge Crabill of Denver, Colorado.   In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Junior and Glen McBee.

In 1950, when Jimmie was 7 years old, his parents moved the family from Lamar, Colorado to rural Richmond. Graduating from Richmond High School in 1961, he attended Central Missouri State College until his love of farming drew him back to the family farm. He loved the land and he loved farming, never more contented than when he was out in the fields. For all their married life, he and Judy made their home on the farm, north of Dockery and he was lovingly dubbed the unofficial "Mayor" of that small town.  He worked for John Deere Implement in Richmond for many years. He worked for Missouri Department of Transportation for the ten years prior to his retirement.  He was a valued member of the Simmons & Co. Auction team for over twenty-five years, traveling with the company all across the country. He served on the board of Ray Carroll Coop for many years. He attended Rayville Christian Union Church. His love of Jesus Christ was the very foundation of his life and his faith sustained him in his last difficult days.    Most weekends for over fifty years he and Judy spent with a group of very close friends, affectionately known as F Troop.  The group literally raised their families together: having card games, playing volleyball and pulling shenanigans with one another as well as sharing countless meals (his dessert of choice being angel food cake and homemade ice cream, vanilla only please).  Thru the happy times and the sad times, F Troop stepped in to help each other in countless ways over the years. Jimmie loved to laugh and to aggravate his friends, go fishing with Roy and Phil and son JJ and spent years hunting pheasants in Iowa with Darrel and Bob.

The family suggests memorial contribution be made to either the Rayville Christian Union Church or to the American Cancer Society, they can be dropped off or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 190, 507 East Main St., Richmond.

Memorial services for Jimmie will be held on Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Rayville Christian Union Church at 1:00 P.M.   Inurnment will be at a later date by the family.  Thurman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.  On line condolence may be left to the family at www.thurmanfuneralhome.com
