It is with deep sorrow that we announce that Joe Ellis Truby passed peacefully in his home on February 14, 2024.  Born on March 19, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan.  Joe lived a full and enriched life and was a friend to all.  He was a retired Air Force Veteran, loved his custom 56 Chevy, hunting, and fishing with his grandsons.

A kind soul and a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.  He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.  His legacy will live on through his shared stories, wisdom, and the love he bestowed upon his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ernest Truby Jr; mother, Mary Truby; and son, Don Truby.  He is survived by his wife, Linda Truby, of the home; son, Shawn (Rhonda) Truby; daughter, Kelly (Russell Kelly) Truby; two grandsons, Blake (Hannah) Hilluby, and Chad (Lindsey) Truby; and sister, Janet (Robert) McWhirt.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the D.A.V. or the Disabled American Veterans.  They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, MO.

The funeral service will directly follow the visitation at 11:00 A.M., with his grandson, Chad Truby, officiating.

Interment will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville.

May he rest in eternal peace, knowing the profound impact he had on those around him. Our hearts go out to all of Joe's loved ones during this difficult time.
