JOHN HARVEY BARNETT, JR.

John Harvey Barnett, Jr., 73, of Kansas City, Mo and formerly of Richmond, Mo, died on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at his home.

John was born on April 5, 1943 in Kansas City, Mo to John Harvey and Dorothy E. (Thompson) Barnett, Sr. He married Linda Gail Driskell of Richmond, Mo on November 4, 1966. She preceded him in death on October 27, 2012.

Survivors include; a daughter and son-in-law, Dina Rena'and Kevin Allen Blackmore of Overland Park, Ks, 2 brothers, George Lacey Barnett of Independence, Mo, Harry Russell Barnett and his wife, Beth of Richmond, WVA, 2 sisters and 2 brothers-in-law, Marguerite Ellen "Peggy' and Bob Treese of Kansas City, Mo, Kathryn Ann and Thomas Rankin of Denver, Co, 2 granddaughters, Niccole Rena' Pearon, Alexandria Nadine Pearon and 1 step-granddaughter, Alena Leighanne Blackmore. John is also survived by an uncle, Harry Caulfield of Independence, Mo.

In addition to his wife and parents, John was preceded in death by 2 brothers, James Leslie Barnett and Gary Lee Barnett, Sr.

John worked as a salesman in the Electrical Industry for over 30 years. He was a United States Marine Corp Veteran. He was a member of Bee Hive Lodge #393 A. F. & A. M. in Lawson, Mo. He was a member of Ararat Shrine. John was a member of the RLDS Church. He lived in Richmond for 44 years before moving back to Kansas City in 2014.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, where masonic services will be held at 6:45 p.m. Burial will be in the Woodland cemetery in Richmond, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Ray County Veterans.
