Joseph William Jelinek, Jr., 64, of Pleasant Hill, died at his residence on Wednesday, May 2, 2018.

Joseph William Jelinek, Jr. was born on October 26, 1953 in Lexington to Joseph William Sr. and Mary (Sullenger) Jelinek.

Survivors include: 4 sons and 2 daughters-in-law, Joseph Daniel Jelinek of Deepwater, MO, Jason and Jennifer Jelinek of Deepwater, MO, Ryan and Sierra Jelinek of Las Vegas, NV and Kevin Jelinek of Lee's Summit, MO; one brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Tonja Jelinek of Independence, MO; 4 grandchildren, Joey Bradley Jelinek, Bailey Jelinek, Riley Jelinek and Brooke Jelinek.

Joseph was raised in Independence, MO and graduated from the William Chrisman High School. He later attended UMKC and graduated with a degree in English. He lived most of his life in the Kansas City area. He was very close to his parents, his boys and grandkids. He enjoyed watching the Royals, the Chiefs and Mizzou basketball and football and listening to rock & roll. Joseph also enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids in sports.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery.
