JULIUS M. SPAIN
Julius M. Spain, 84, of Richmond, MO, died on September 20, 2010, at his home after a 12 year battle with cancer.
Julius was born February 2, 1926 in Jacksonville, TX, the son of E.B. Spain and Annabelle (Campbell) Spain. He married Sylvia Steven Miller of Galveston, TX on August 26, 1961.
Julius left school in his senior year and joined the United States Merchant Marine and served his country in the Pacific during World War II and later sailed the world for 17 ½ years.
He then bought a row crop farm and a cattle ranch in Corning, AR and enjoyed farming and ranching for another 17 ½ years, along with a menagerie of horses, ponies and Catahoula dogs. He loved the outdoors and hunting.
Julius then moved to Poplar Bluff, MO in 1975 and obtained his Real Estate Brokers license for Spain Land company and enjoyed buying and selling real estate for another 17 ½ years. He moved to Springfield, Mo in his golden years and enjoyed camping with his family at Stockton Lake, MO and taking trips out west in his R.V. Lastly he moved to Richmond in 2004 to be near his son and daughter.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 49 years; son, William Wesley Spain and his wife, Debbie; and his daughter, Becky Lynn Treccariche and her fiancée, Jeffery Burris.
No service is requested in Richmond, MO. Graveside services will be Wednesday, September 22, at 2:00 p.m. at the Corning Cemetery, Corning, AR. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, MO is in charge of the arrangements.
