LARRY FRANKLIN HICKS
Larry Franklin Hicks, 73, of Richmond, MO died Saturday, January 30, 2016 at North Kansas City Hospital, North Kansas City, MO.
Larry was born on March 1, 1942 in Henreitta, MO to Francis Marion and Trella (Norris) Hicks. He married Linda K. Heimbaugh of Weatherby, MO on January 24, 1974. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include, one son and daughter-in-law, Aaron and Whitney Hicks of Henrietta, MO; two daughters and one son-in-law, and one daughter-in-ln-law, Diana and Jim McBee of Liberty, MO and Maria Christine Hicks and Jovi McGuire of Portland, OR; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Judith and Mike Pafford of Plano, TX and Bonnie Hicks Winn of Tucson, AZ; and three grandchildren, Sydney Gabrielle McBee, Seth Ryan Hicks and Shane Christopher Hicks. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Jim Winn.
Larry was a 1960 graduate of Richmond High School. He was a lifelong farmer. He was a United States Army Veteran. Larry was a member of the Richmond American Legion Post #237. He was president and founder of the Ray- Lafayette Levee District. He was a member of the National Corn Growers Association. Larry was past president of the Richmond School Board where he was instrumental in the building of the new High School. He was a member of the Ray County FSA Board and the Crooked River Bass Masters. Larry was a member of the Henrietta Baptist Church, as well as a member of several other organizations. He had lived in the Henrietta and Richmond areas most of his life.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Richmond FFA Scholarship Fund.
The Hicks family would like to give a special" thank you" to the Doctors and Nurses on the 2nd Floor of North Kansas City Hospital for the loving and professional care that was given to their loved one during his stay in the hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 2, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8: 00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Cravens Cemetery at a later date.
