LARRY WAYNE PROFFITT

Larry Wayne Proffitt, 66, of Richmond, MO, died at 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at his home.
Larry was born on June 30, 1944 in Carrollton, MO to Delbert and Elva (Nutter) Proffitt. He married Susie Q. Campbell of Loredo, MO on July 27, 1982; she survives, of the home.
Other survivors include four sons and their spouses, Michael Dwayne and Brandy Proffitt of Blue Springs, MO, "Buddy" Chrisman of Richmond, Charles D. and Shinobu Chrisman of Portland, OR and Harold D. and Kimberly Chrisman of Richmond; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Edward and Ruth Proffitt of Springfield, MO, Hubert and Linda Proffitt of Shell Knob, MO and Ruben Proffitt of Peoria, AZ.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a half brother, Bill Gilreath; and one sister, Juanita Lawter.
Larry was a member of the Carrollton United Methodist Church. He worked in the automotive department at the Wal Mart Store in Springfield, MO for ten years before he retired in 2006. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a former member of the Richmond Jay Cees. He was a former Richmond City Councilman. He was a member of the Richmond American Legion Post #237. He had lived in Carrollton before moving to Richmond in 1969.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Larry Wayne Proffitt memorial fund.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 6, at 10:00 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO. Visitation will be Thursday, August 5, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO. Burial will be at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Ray County Veterans. Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO is in charge of the arrangements.
