Obituary

LAUREL A. WILLIAMSON

Laurel Ann Williamson, 70, of Overland Park, KS died Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, MO.
Laurel was born on May 22, 1942 in Dayton, OH to Gary Eugene and Ann (Reeves) Franklin. They preceeded her in death.
Survivors include her children, Tom and Carol Williamson of Richmond, Krista Williamson and Eve Robb Medlock of Overland Park, KS and Greg and Lori Williamson of St. Louis, MO; one brother, Gary Franklin of Grand Rapids, MI; twin sister, Glenna Franklin Marshall of Torrance, CA; 6 grandchildren, Rhiannon and Rachel Williamson, Baker, Graham, Libby and Nash Medlock; and one great-granddaughter, Elena Williams.
Laurel was a Neurology Technician at Health Midwest. Shortly after her retirement in 2005, she was diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a rare and little-understood neurological disease. Applying her training in the field, she seemed to embrace it as a challenge, actively participating in research, treatment, drug-study, and documentation of its progression. The progression caught up, however, and she would be honored if her efforts were continued through contributions to CurePSP at https://give.psp.org or in care of Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Unity Church of Overland Park, KS, 10300 Antioch Road. Inurnment will be at a later date. Thurman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
