LEE ROY ROWLAND

Lee Roy Rowland, 90, of Richmond, MO, died at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2010, at the Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Lee Roy was born July 15, 1919 in Orrick, MO to Alva and Lille (Johnson) Rowland. He married Sarah Alice Summers of Ray County, MO on September 13, 1941; she preceded him in death on September 3, 2003.
Survivors include two daughters and two sons-in-law, Diana and Tony Coffman of Blue Eye, MO and Patricia Downs of Chillicothe, MO and her husband, Mike; one sister, Nina Lewis of Richmond; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon Rowland and Harold Rowland; and three sisters, Imogene Moss, Mae Garrett and Mattie Danner.
Lee Roy worked for General motors for 30 years before retiring in 1979. He lived in Richmond most of his life. He was a member of the Richmond First Baptist Church, the U.A.W. Union Local #31, and a life member of the Lexington VFW Post #4052.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Village Hospice in Lexington, MO.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 22, at 11:00 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens, Richmond, MO, where Military Graveside Services will be conducted by the Lexington VFW Post #4052. Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO is in charge of the arrangements.
