LENA MAE RUSSELL

Lena Mae Russell, 84, of Richmond, MO died at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Lena was born on January 24, 1927 in Atlanta, MO to J. Tolman and Ona M. (Bealmer) Tate. She married Robert G. Russell from Norborne, MO on June 17, 1947; he survives of the home.
Additional survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Pam Russell of Henrietta, MO; two daughters and one son-in-law, Thalia J. Russell of Richmond and Rhonda F. and Fred "Buddy" Taber of Richmond; 7 grandchildren and their spouses, Jason and Missy Taber, Angela and Erik Osborn, Jocelyn and Matt Hollingsworth, Bob Russell, James and Marla Russell, Jonathan Russell and Tate Russell; 10 great-grandchildren, Tommy Taber, Tyler Wallace, Kaylla Osborn, Darian Wallace, Kaytlin Osborn, Olivia Taber, Lindsay Taber, Hopper Taber, Chase and Brytin Russell; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald M. and Alberta Tate of Galena, MO and Paul K. and Phyllis Tate of Macon, MO; and one sister-in-law, Lou Emma Tate of Macon, MO.
In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by one brother, William L. Tate.
Lena had lived most of her life in the Richmond area. She was a Teacher's Aide at the State School in Richmond for 20 years before retiring in 1982. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher and a member of W. M. U. She was a member of the Richmond Garden Club and the Ray County Extension Club.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church, Shriners Hospital for Children or to the Shirkey Foundation.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Richmond. Visitation will be Monday, May 2, 2011 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Richmond Memory Gardens in Richmond. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.
