Obituary

Lenora Sue Marshall, 92, of Carrollton, formerly of Stet, died on December 10, 2020 at Carroll House in Carrollton.

Lenora was born on September 27, 1928, in Roanoke, the daughter of George Milton and Thelma Marie (Hunker) Long, Sr.  She was united in marriage to Lloyd Gale Marshall of Stet on April 18, 1947; he preceded her in death on November 24, 1992.

Survivors include: three daughters, Gail Sue (Butch) Bisbee of Stet, Jo Ellen Hughes of Carrollton and Barbara Jean Marshall of Sebring, Florida; four grandchildren: Kevin Bisbee, Kelli (Chuck) Thoeni, Todd (Lora) Hughes and Jill (Brian) Pierson; seven great grandchildren: Bailey (Frank) Johnson, Emma Thoeni, Kaylee Hughes, MaKenzie Hughes, Brett Pierson, Raegan Pierson and Taylor Pierson; and two sisters: Mary Jo Lee of Orrick and Jean Stonner of Richmond.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, George Milton Long.

Lenora as a sophomore came to Richmond and completed her sophomore and junior year in Richmond.  She then moved to Orrick where she graduated.  After high school, she received her teaching certificate and taught school at Russellville country school where she met her husband.  After they married, they moved to their farm in Stet where they lived their whole married life.  Lenora worked for the Ray County Library in Richmond, then at the USDA office (the ASCS office) in Richmond and retired in 1996.  She was active in the New Hope 4-H Club and the New Hope United Methodist Church.  She loved to cook and was known for her family dinners, fried chicken, noodles, cakes, pies, and rolls.  After retiring, she loved to take care of her grandkids and go to all their games and activities.  She enjoyed yearly trips to Las Vegas with her friends and family.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to New Hope Cemetery.  They can be dropped off or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

Memorial graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 18, 2020 at New Hope Cemetery, North of Hardin.  Rev.
