LINDA GAIL (DRISKELL) BARNETT
Linda Gail (Driskell) Barnett, 68, of Richmond, MO died at 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the North Kansas City Hospital.
Linda was born on June 16, 1944 in Richmond, MO to Quinley Pierce and Patsy Nadine (Gash) Driskell. She married John H. Barnett, Jr. of Kansas City, MO on November 4, 1966. He survives of the home.
Additional survivors include; one daughter and son-in-law, Dina Rena' and Kevin Blackmore of Overland Park, KS, two grandchildren, Niccole Rena' and Alexandria Nadine Pearon and one step granddaughter, Alena Leighanne Blackmore.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents.
Linda was employed at Stuppy Greenhouse Manufacturing, Inc. for 40 years, before retiring in July of 2010 as Vice President of Greenhouse Sales. She designed, marketed and sold greenhouses all across the United States as well as internationally. While at Stuppy's employment, she held 2 patents; one for the final inspection paint booth for the automotive industry. She was instrumental in the success, development and sale of new products for Wadsworth Manufacturing, which is a major vendor for Stuppy Greenhouse Manufacturing. Linda was an icon and pioneer in her industry. She was a woman in a man's world and made it; she broke the glass ceiling for women in the greenhouse industry.
Linda loved to fish and loved her lake house where she frequented with her family, including parents, husband, cousins, her daughter and her husband and grandchildren. She enjoyed riding her wave runners and following her family in the ski boat. She loved her flowers and plants at her home in Richmond. She was a member of the Richmond First Baptist Church. She attended Richmond High School. She held an honorary degree from the state of Missouri and the FFA. She held a seat on the Modine Greenhouse Council, nationwide. She had lived in Richmond most of her life.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude's Hospital, Shriner's Hospitals for Children or to Toys 4 Tots.
The family would like to give a special "Thank You" to the Nursing Staff of North Kansas City Hospital Oncology Unit as well as Dr. Sirridge and Dr. Gordon for their compassion and loving care given to their beloved Linda, during her illness.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Richmond.
