LOWERY HERBERT "HERB" CRUM

Lowery Herbert "Herb" Crum, 82, of Richmond, MO, died at 7:52 a.m. on Friday, April 22, 2011 at the North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, MO.
Herb was born on December 7, 1928 in Ray County, MO to Lowery H. and Carrie (Clevenger) Crum. He married Ruth E. Simpson of Richmond, MO on December 24, 1950. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include; one son, Kenton L. Crum of Lexington, MO, two daughters and sons-in-law, Cherie and Dean Mason of Lexington, MO, Melanie and Randall LaVene of Richmond, MO, one sister and brother-in-law, Louise and LeeWray Russell of Eureka, KS, seven grandchildren and their spouses, Travis Jellum, Chad and Jennifer Jellum, Kristen and Wyatt Horine, Katie and Brice Potter, Jeremy Mason, Melissa and Nathan Grant, Ryley LaVene, eight great-grandchildren, Saige, Landen, Liem, Spencer, Shawn, Dylan, Ayden and Avery. Two nephews and one niece also survive.
In addition to his parents, Herb was preceded in death by one brother, Clevenger Crum, one sister, LaRue Stein, one great-grandson, Laeten Potter and one nephew, Alva Lee Stein.
Herb worked as a salesman for John Deere Implement Dealers for over sixty-three years, including, Ray County Implement, Anson Implement and Heartland Farm and Lawn. He was of the Christian faith. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He had lived most of his life in the Richmond area.
Herb loved life and he loved his family and friends. He enjoyed bird and squirrel watching and feeding the birds in the winter. He enjoyed gardening and traveling, especially their trips to Europe. He will be missed tremendously by his family and friends.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either Gabriella's Garden or to the donor's choice.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 25, 2011 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery.
