LURA LEE HARSHNER
Lura Lee Harshner, 81, of Kansas City, MO died Saturday, August 11, 2012 at her home.
Lura was born on March 1, 1931 in Henrietta, MO to James E. and Darlene (Harrison) Smith. She was married to Darrell Harshner of Henrietta, MO on May 21, 1948;he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two brothers, Duane Smith of Sheridan, WY and Jimmy Smith of Richmond, MO; one sister and brother in-law, Donna and Gilbert Hughes of Maryville, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lura was preceded in death by one son, Darrell Harshner, Jr.
Lura worked as a Dental Assistant most of her adult life in the Kansas City area. She was a member of the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kansas City. She had lived in the Kansas City area most of her life.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Wayside Waifs.
The family would like to pay special thanks to Lura's next door neighbors, C.C. and Richard Mackin who cared for her around the clock for the past several months allowing her to be at home, which was her wish. The family would also like to acknowledge the wonderful staff at Crossroads Hospice for their special care for Lura, these last few weeks.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, MO with the Rosary to be recited at 10:45 a.m. at Thurman Funeral Home. Burial will follow services in Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of the arrangements at 816-776-2233.
