Marsha May Young, 74, of Gladstone and formerly of Richmond died Sunday, June 17, 2018 at the North Kansas City Hospital.
Marsha was born on December 5, 1943 in Hardin to Isaac "Ike" Estill and Marguerite N. (Hollengren) McCanless. She married Richard G. Young of Hardin on March 10, 1967; he survives of the home.
Additional survivors include; two sons, John Young and his wife, Marilyn of Kansas City and Kevin Young of Kansas City; two daughters, Becki Neely and her husband, Brent of Kansas City and Debbie Dillinger and her husband, Brian of Cassville; brother, Ronald McCanless of Independence; 11 grandchildren, Taylor Edgar (Loren), Megan Young (Drew Gabbert), Peyton Young, Justin Hanson, Emily Jenkins (Dustin), Chloe Young, Blair Quiggle (Jacob), Bobbie Neely, Blake Neely, Joshua Wood and A.J. Wood; 6 great-grandchildren, Breckham Gabbert, Saydee Jenkins, Mason Jenkins, Skylar Jenkins, Avery Clutter and Madeleine Wood; numerous extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Marsha was preceded in death by one brother, John McCanless.
Marsha was reared and educated in the area of her birth. Over the years, Marsha had worked at American Bank in Richmond, Gowing-Thompson Real Estate in Richmond and was working at Lake City Army Ammunition Arsenal when she met her husband. She was also a house wife and homemaker. Marsha was a lifelong member of the United Christian Presbyterian Church in Richmond, where she was the church financial secretary for years. She liked to go antiquing and traveling with her husband. Marsha was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the United Christian Presbyterian Church in Richmond.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the United Christian Presbyterian Church in Richmond. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery. On line condolences may be left on our website at www.thurmanfuneralhome.com
