MARY LAVERNE ANDERSON

Mary LaVerne Anderson, 78, of Richmond, MO died Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the North Care Hospice House in North Kansas City, MO.

LaVerne was born on February 14, 1936 in Hamilton, OH to Albert and Mary (Lewis) Richardson. She married Bobby W. Anderson, Sr., of Hardin, MO on November 19, 1951. He preceded her in death on June 8, 2013.

Survivors include two daughters and two sons-in-law, Doris and Earl Strickler of Lexington, MO and Charissa and Terry Bebout of Richmond; one grandson, Trevor Strickler and his wife, Randa; several nieces and nephews; 3 step-grandchildren; and 7 step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, LaVerne was preceded in death by 2 sons, Bobby W. Anderson, Jr. and Timothy L. Anderson; and 11 brothers and sisters.

LaVerne taught at the Martinez School of Cosmetology in Excelsior Springs, Mo for several years. She was also owner and operator of LaVerne's Lemontree Salon in Hardin and LaVerne's Finishing Touches in Excelsior Springs. She worked as a nurse's aide at the Ray County Memorial Hospital, Liberty Hospital and Valley Manor Rest Home in Excelsior Springs. She had lived in the Hardin and Excelsior Springs areas, before moving to Richmond in 2008.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 17, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery.
