Mary Jane Happy, 81, of Richmond, died Friday, July 16, 2021, at Liberty Hospital.
Mary was born on January 5, 1940, in Camden, the daughter of Wayne and Gladys (Nichols) Burgess. She was united in marriage to James R. "Jim" Happy of Camden on November 5, 1960; he preceded her in death on November 6, 2011.
Jane is survived by: two sons, James D (Patricia) Happy of Richmond and Gerald L. Happy of Excelsior Springs; one brother, Gary D. (Nancy) Burgess of Camden; two grandchildren, Jamie (Kyle) Krueger and Emily Happy. She is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and grandson, Elan Happy.
Jane was reared and educated in the area of her birth. She graduated from Orrick High School. She was a member of The Town and Country China Painters, The World Organization of China Painters, International Porcelain Artists of Chain, Associate of Lathrop Porcelain Painters, and she has China displayed at the China Art Museum in Oklahoma. She was a member of the Camden United Methodist Church, where she served on the church board. She also served on the board for Ray County Health Department. Jane was a member Beta Sigma Phi Order of the Rose Sorority. Jane loved to travel and enjoyed sewing and crafts.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Cravens Cemetery. They can be left or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
