MARY E. JELINEK

Mary E. Jelinek, 80, of Independence, MO died on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at the Independence Manor Care Center.
Mary was born on November 19, 1931 in Henrietta, MO to Arther and Clara B. (Mason) Sullenger. She married Joseph W. "Joe" Jelinek, Sr. of Ray County, MO on April 9, 1950; he preceded her in death on May 19, 2009.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Joseph W. "Joey" Jelinek, Jr. of Independence and Gary Gene and Tonja Jelinek of Independence; one brother and sister-in-law, Don and Judy Sullenger of Centerville, OH; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Joey and Dawn Jelinek, Jason and Jennifer Jelinek, Gary and Sara Jelinek, Amber and Ramsey Atieh, Ryan Jelinek and Kevin Jelinek; and 7 great-grandchildren, Joey Bradley Jelinek, Bailey Jelinek, Brooke Jelinek, Riley Jelinek, Braxton Atieh, Chase William Jelinek and Kayden Timothy Jelinek.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by one brother, Keith Sullenger and one sister, Clara Belle Sullenger.
Mary worked for Cigna Health Insurance as a typist for many years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Independence. She had lived most of her life in Independence. Mary was a 50+ year member of the Order of Eastern Star.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, MO. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, where an O.E.S. service will be held at 1:45 p.m. Burial will be in the Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.
