MARY BETH PAYNE

Mary Beth Payne, 75, of Richmond died at 3:52 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her daughters and Crossroads Hospice Staff in Richmond.

Mary Beth was born on November 12, 1940 in Floyd, MO to Willis and Lill (Duncan) McAfee. She was married to George Payne of Rayville, MO on August 19, 1968. He preceded her in death on March 3, 2009.

Survivors include; her daughters, Diana Adams of Richmond, MO and Janet Hessenflow of Gladstone, MO; one sister, Shirley Brown of Orrick, MO; brother, Rick McAfee and his wife, Peggy, of Lee's Summit, MO; four grandchildren, Courtney and Danny Sisson of Richmond, Natalie and Ryan Eastley of Richmond, Christopher and Rachael Hessenflow of Tucson, AZ and Ryan Hessenflow of Blue Springs, MO; 6 great-grandchildren, Rylee Adams, Luke, Layla and Blake Sisson, Emerson Eastley and Gannon Hessenflow.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Beth was preceded in death by one brother, Willis Keith McAfee; and son-in-law, Jeffery "Puff" Adams.

Mary Beth was a personal care giver. She worked several years at Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick and Richmond. She also owned George and Mary's Café and Happy Hollow. Her family was the most important part of her life as was playing cards with her friends at Shirkey's.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Richmond High School Girls Golf Team or to the Crossroads Hospice Charitable Foundation.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Monday, September 19, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the South Point Cemetery in Orrick, MO.
