Mary Martinez (Quijada) Fields, 72, of Richmond, died Saturday, December 12, 2020, at her home.
Mary was born on September 15, 1948, in Guadalupe, AZ, the daughter of Benito and Sarah (Gonzalez) Quijada. She was born a member of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe. Mary married Mansur M. Fields and they had three sons during their marriage.
Survivors include: four sons: Anthony M. (Ramona) Fields, Perry D. (Christina) Fields, Gregory Fields, all of Richmond, and Robert Quinn (Najaina) Talbert of Warrensburg; 8 grandchildren: Michael A. Fields, Crystal M. Fields, Cory M. Fields, Marcus Fields, Payton D. Fields, Zoie H. Fields, Sierra E. Fields, and Andrew G. Fields; 14 great-grandchildren: Cainan Box, Paxton Fields, Jazmine Box, Ava Fields, Parker Baylor, Treyvon Talbert, Niyla Talbert, Casen Talbert, Layla Talbert, Tristin Talbert, Tayah Talbert, Kayla Valdes, Khadeeja Talbert, and Isaiah Talbert; sister, Lupe (Francisco Perez) Quijada of Guadalupe, AZ; two nephews, Benito (Regina) Morales and Jesus (Arias) Delma; and last but not least, her companion for over 7 years, Gordy Fields, her puppy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, lifelong partner, Robert George Talbert, and brother, Pasqual Quijada.
Mary worked helping others at her job she loved, as a licensed practical nurse at the Ray County Memorial Hospital. She then continued her hard work at Lake City Ammunition, where she retired from. Mary battled through 10 years of dialysis. She was a proud member of the St. John's C.M.E. Church in Richmond.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Mary Martinez (Quijada) Fields Memorial Fund. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
Mary was a believer in the Lord and opened the Bible daily to give her praise to Jesus. She prayed for everyone and loved all, equally family and friends alike.
Visitation with funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M., with services to follow at 2:00 P.M. Due to COVID-19, the family requests masks be worn for services. Inurnment will be at a later date in Guadalupe Cemetery, Guadalupe, AZ, with a memorial of Santa Lucia Templo.
