Mary Lee Smith, 46, of Independence, died Sunday, August 14, 2022, at CenterPoint Medical Center in Independence.

Mary was born on September 4, 1975, in Kansas City, the daughter of Ronald and Mary Barlow (Lunde) Smith.

Survivors include: three sons: Ricky Thurman of Kansas City, Jacob Smith of Independence, and Carson Curry of Blue Springs; daughter, Brittany Thurman of Orrick; three grandchildren: Jonas, Embry, and Jackson; brother, Jerry Johnson of Kansas City; four sisters: Erica Johnson of Kansas City, Nellie Frebert of Liberty, Kelly Smith of Independence, and Stacy Cole of Independence; and many nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Ryker Thurman, brother, Ronnie Smith, and sister, Joni Lunde.

Visitation with funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Wood Heights, with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M., with services to follow at 11:00 A.M.  Burial will follow in Southpoint Cemetery, Orrick.  Please remember to share your memories of Mary with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com .
