Obituary

Mary F. Stompoly Knight O'Neal, age 86 of Warrensburg, MO. passed away in the early morning of January 12, 2018 after a lengthy illness of Alzheimer disease.

She was born September 8, 1931 in New Brunswick, New Jersey, the daughter of Joseph and Marie (Anton) Stompoly.

She was raised in the Kansas City area and graduated from Redemtorist High School in Kansas City, MO. She was united in marriage to Warren Henry Knight on May 23, 1952. To this union was born four children, Pat (Greg) Reimers, Marshalltown, IA, Cathy (George) Knight Kotzias, Kansas City, Mike (Carol) Knight, Lexington, MO and Mary (Stephen) Haug, Warrensburg.

On January 13, 1996 she was united in marriage to Virgil O'Neal at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warrensburg. She was a devout Catholic and when it became impossible for her to attend Mass she would watch it on the television. She worked many years for United Telephone, now Sprint. When the telephone office in Lexington closed she relocated to Warrensburg retiring in 1997. She enjoyed camping with family and friends. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed having them for weeks during the summer. Her desire was to remain in her home until her death and she was able to do this with the help of her children.

She is survived by her children and step children, Lisa (Bob) Gaston and Doug O'Neal. Grandchildren: Jason (Michelle) Hunt and Joe (Misty) Hunt, both from Ackley, IA, Kelly (Teddy) White, Richmond, MO, Mike (Rachel) Haug, Phoenix, AZ, Marie (Shane) Lewis, Newburg, MO, Harry and Anthony Kotzias, Kansas City, Kelsey Ricketts and Brooke Ricketts and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil, brother Richard Stompoly and her parents.

The family suggest memorial contributions in Mary's name be made to the St. Judes Hospital for children.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to service. Burial will be in the Lexington Memory Gardens, Lexington.There will be a time for fellowship and refreshments following the committal service at the V.F.W. in Lexington.
