Melissa Gail Jones, 42, of Hardin, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at her home.

Melissa was born on March 15, 1983, in North Carolina, the daughter of Theodore and Judith (Jenkins) Simpson.  She was united in marriage to Johnathan Jones of Hardin; they later divorced, but to this union, their two children were born.

Survivors include: her two sons, Tyral Jones and Dashawn Jones, both of the home; her paternal grandmother, Betty Simpson; her siblings and their families: Rhonda Jenkins and her children, Carmen and DJ; Jessica and Douglas Jones and their children, Makayla, Bradley, Kelly, Galilea, Manus, II ,Septamus, and Octavius; Jason and Brandy Simpson and their children, Isaiah, Jordan, John, Mason, and Jennifer; Jenny Simpson and Jason Scott and their children, Logan, Aiden, Danica, Mytchal, and Gregory; Heather Simpson and her children, Johnny, Jr., Abby, Leora, and Sarah.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Lois and Richard Jenkins, and paternal grandfather, Charles Simpson.

Melissa worked in the fast-food industry as a cashier for Burger King in Richmond.  She was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, and friend.  Melissa left us too soon and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
