MELVA L. ABBOTT
Melva L. Abbott, 85, of Richmond, MO, died 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at her daughter's home in Leeton, MO.
Melva was born on October 9, 1924 in Kingsville, MO to Harry and Lillie Dell (Trotter) Markel. She first married Luther W. Lee, Jr. of Richmond, MO in 1942. He preceded her in death. She later married James Marvin Abbott of Henrietta, MO in 1950. He also preceded her in death.
Survivors include; one daughter and one son-in-law, Joyce and Deano Loulos of Leeton, MO., two grandchildren, Jeffery and Shelly Loulos, Deana Glasco, three great-grandchildren, Cory and Jacklyn Loulos and Annie Canarsky.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Melva was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Melva was a seamstress for the Francis Gee Garment Factory in Higginsville, MO for several years. She was a member of the Lexington, MO VFW Auxiliary. She was of the Christian faith. She had lived in Camden, MO before moving to Richmond in 1942.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 5, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery. Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO is in charge of the arrangements.
