MELVIN H. KRESSIG
Melvin H. Kressig, 94, of Norborne, MO died at 10:27 a.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Carroll House in Carrollton, MO.
Melvin was born on October 24, 1916 in Salisbury, MO to Henry A. and Eleanor M. (Vitt) Kressig. He married Evelyn L. Kassen of Norborne, MO on October 7, 1970; she preceded him in death on January 24, 2007.
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Terry Bridges of Miami, FL and an extended family of sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. His sister-in-law Charlotte Lock and his niece Suzanne Kruse provided him with loving care and support after he suffered a stroke in 2007.
In addition to his parents and wife, Melvin was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Kressig and Gilbert Kressig who died in infancy.
Melvin was a Rural Mail Carrier in Carroll County for over 30 years, before retiring in 1981. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norborne. He grew up in Salisbury, but lived most of his life in the Norborne area. He was a pilot for the U.S. Navy during WWII.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude's Hospital for Children.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norborne, MO. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church, where the rosary will be recited at 10:45 a.m. Burial with military graveside services will be held at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Salisbury, MO.
