MICHAEL DEAN VANDIVER

Michael Dean Vandiver, 60, of Orrick, MO, died at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at his home.
Mike was born January 31, 1950 in Kansas City, MO to Roy Dean "Dag" and Dorothy Lee (Middleton) Vandiver. He married Karen L. Pennington of Orrick on June 25, 1971; she survives, of the home.
Other survivors include his mother, Dorothy Lee Vandiver of Liberty, MO; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Dana and Todd Bishop of Independence, MO, and Andi and Parker Byron of Olathe, KS; two sisters and brother-in-law, Lisa and Brian Thomas of Kearney, MO, and Jackie Vandiver of Liberty; five grandchildren, Taylor Handley, Ryan Bishop, Kylie Weems, Tyler Weems and Allyson Byron; and two nephews, Blake Thomas and Austin Thomas.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by one sister, Keri Olene Vandiver, who died in infancy.
Mike was a lifelong farmer and had lived in Orrick all of his life. He was a 1968 graduate of Orrick High School and attended Wentworth Military Academy where he was on the football team. He also had attended Central Missouri State University. He was a Past Master of the Ada Masonic Lodge #444 in Orrick and was a member of the Ararat Temple. He was a board member of the Missouri Valley Levy District and a member of the Excelsior Springs and Shirkey golf courses. He was also a member of the Orrick Quarterback Club.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the "Mikey V." Memorial Fund.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 3 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Richmond, MO. Visitation will be Friday, April 2 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Richmond, MO, where Masonic Services will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. Burial will be at South Point Cemetery, Orrick, MO. Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO is in charge of the arrangements.
