MILDRED FRANCES (EDWARDS) DORSEY
Mildred Frances (Edwards) Dorsey, 93, of Carrollton, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, following a very brief illness.
Mildred was born on September 19, 1930, to Henry R. and Margaret Frances (Buehler) Edwards in rural Ray County. She was a 1948 graduate of Bogard High School and then attended Warrensburg Teachers' College. She taught Isom School in the Bogard School District for two years.
On December 1, 1950, she married Herman Eugene Dorsey; he preceded her in death on July 20, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Albert Eugene and Leonard Allen Edwards.
Mildred is survived by her daughter, Brenda Hancock (Rich) of Grain Valley, as well as her three grandchildren, Jenny Baker (Dave) of Grain Valley, Rob Bray of Kansas City, and Kristen McDaniel (Henry) of Kansas City. She is further survived by four great-grandchildren, Thomas (Abrey) Baker of Raymore, Felix Baker of Grain Valley, Collin Bray and Cayley Bray of Blue Springs. Mildred's special blessing was being great-great-grandmother to Holden, Lilly, and Margot Baker, of Raymore. Mildred is also survived by her sister-in-law, Shirley Edwards, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mildred was a past member of the Braden H.E.O. Club of the Rush Chapel area and was a longtime and very active member of Mandeville, Bogard, and Carrollton United Methodist Churches. After living many happy years on the family farm near Bogard, she had resided at Monroe Manor for the past 32 years.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Carrollton United Methodist Church or Ebenezer Cemetery. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home – 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
Visitation with funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the United Methodist Church in Carrollton, with visitation from 12:30 P.M. to 1:15 P.M., with services to follow at 1:30 P.M.
