MILDRED MARIE SCHAWO

Mildred Marie Schawo, 95, of Richmond, MO died at 10:20 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2011 at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Mildred was born on August 10, 1916 in Liberal KS to Elmer Ray and Alma Laverne (Childears) Chapman. She married James Harold Schawo of Kansas City, KS on September 6, 1938; he preceded her in death on July 7, 1989.
Survivors include two sons and daughters in-law, David and Nancy Schawo of Fayette, MO and Don and Jan Schawo of Warrensburg, MO; one daughter, Pat Curtner of Columbia, MO; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mildred was preceded in death by one daughter, Sue Clarke.
Mildred was a homemaker. She was member of the Richmond First Baptist Church where she taught the Senior Adult Women's Sunday school. She had lived in the Kansas City area in 1956 before moving to the Polo and Richmond area's in 1970's. Mildred was an officer for the Young at Hearts. She was very active in the Ray County Senior Adult Services.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Richmond First Baptist Church or to the Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Friday, December 30, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in the Richmond Memory Gardens.
