Obituary

Nina B. Clark, 76, of Orrick, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Nina was born on January 1, 1950, in Excelsior Springs, the daughter of Melvin and Frances (Summer) Harris. She was united in marriage to John W. Clark, Jr., of Richmond, on May 24, 1968; he preceded her in death on September 22, 2018.

Survivors include: two sons, John Wayne (Kelly) Clark and Artie Scott (Terri) Clark, both of Orrick; seven grandchildren: Elizabeth (Cody) Pennington, Joseph Clark (Kaylese), Amanda Clark, Cheyenne (Cody) Combs, Austin Clark, Aaron Brooks Clark (Ally), and Lydia Friedrich; 13 great-grandchildren: Hailey Pennington, Kailey Pennington, Bailey Pennington, Tucker Clark, Paisley Clark-Hoyle, Benntley Franzen, Charlie Combs, Matthew Clark, Westley Clark, Alias Clark, Carson Combs, Camron Combs, and Meztli Lafferty; brother, John Harris of Orrick; and sister, Rita Dever of Liberty; many nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nina was preceded in death by her brother, Melvin Harris, and sister, Wanda Bernard.

Nina was raised and educated in Orrick and graduated from Orrick High School. Throughout her life, she devoted much of her time to being a loving wife, homemaker, and caregiver. In addition to caring for her home and family, Nina also worked outside the home as a floor technician, specializing in cleaning and restoring floors.

Above all else, Nina was a family woman at heart. Her greatest joy came from spending time with those she loved, especially her grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as “Grandma” and “NiNi.” She had a special way of making the little ones feel loved and was always happy to spoil them with treats.

Nina enjoyed attending rendezvous, going antiquing, and watching her favorite TV series, Heartland. Another favorite pastime of Nina’s was participating in a good demolition derby, a longtime family tradition that brought generations together. From her parents and siblings to her grandchildren, the whole family got involved, making it more than just a hobby, but a special tradition filled with cherished memories. She loved the simple pleasures of country life, especially spending time outdoors at the farm, surrounded by nature and the company of family and friends. She had a particular fondness for hummingbirds and enjoyed watching them whenever she had the chance. Nina found happiness in the little things in life, but nothing meant more to her than the people she loved. She will be remembered for her caring heart, her love of family, and the special memories she made with those closest to her.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Nina Clark Memorial Fund. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Thruman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M., with services to follow at 11:00 A.M. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Please remember to share your memories of Nina with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
