Obituary

Norma Carolene Loyd, 91, of Richmond, died Sunday, April 5, 2020, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.

Norma was born on April 22, 1928, in Joplin, the daughter of Joseph Roosevelt and Mary Elizabeth (Skiles) Cook.  She was united in marriage to Emil Eugene Loyd of Richmond on December 6, 1946; he preceded her in death on August 30, 2015.

Norma leaves behind her sister, Ruth Hendrix of Richmond; three nieces: Carolene (Gary) Nolker of Richmond, Marsha (Clarence) Tracy of Liberty, and Mary (Tim) Turner of Cocoa Beach, FL; nephews, Allen Hendrix of Richmond and John (Christy) Sanders of Kansas City; and many great nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Charles Lester Loyd in infancy, brother, Joseph Cook, sister, Virginia Forson and infant sister, Betty Mae Cook.

Norma was a housewife and homemaker and lived in the Knoxville and Richmond area most of her life.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Richmond.  She and her husband enjoyed going to Branson to watch the shows; they especially loved the Country music shows.  They deeply cared for their nieces and nephews as if they were their own children.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Richmond First Baptist Church.  They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, in Richmond Memory Gardens.  Please remember to share your memories of Norma with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com .
