Obituary

Norman Brice Goodman of Rayville, Missouri was born on May 28, 1937, the son of Honest and Faye (Gulley) Goodman on the homestead of his grandfather, William Gulley.  He passed away to his heavenly home on October 23, 2020 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 83.  Norman attended and graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri in 1956 and then attended college.  He spent his summers helping on the farms in Rayville, Missouri.

While in high school, Norman met the love of his life Georgia Spangler, whom he married on June 8, 1957, she survives of the home.  He was an engineer at several companies prior to going to Ford Motor Company where he retired as a dimensional control engineer from Kansas City Assembly.  While working as an engineer with Ford, he traveled all over the world.  Norman had a passion for bulldozers and spent many years running G & G Excavation Co. mostly in the Ray County area.  Norman was also commissioned as a First Lieutenant in the Army as a combat engineer where he served his country for 13 years.

Norman was called into the ministry in 1978 where he served as pastor for St. Paul Christian Union Church up until 2019.  He had a great love for the Lord and a yearning to share his faith and love for Christ with those around him.  His hobbies were many.  He loved flying and was a licensed pilot.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping with his family, loved cooking outside and frying fish and all things outdoors.  Norman had an active farm consisting of cattle and hogs for many years.

Norman and Georgia have 3 children: Julie, Jeff, and Danny.  Julie and Rusty Nelson of Rayville, Missouri; Jeff and Joni Goodman of Liberty Missouri; and Danny and Risa Goodman of Rayville, Missouri. Out of this union came the blessing of 8 grandchildren: Lindsey (Joseph) DeAngelo, Bradley (Ryan) Nelson, Michael (Jessica) Nelson, Brock (Sarah) Goodman, Evin Goodman, Amanda (Benjamin) St. Pierre, Aaron Goodman (fiancé Jordan Thoreson) and Adam Goodman (fiancé Hailey Fairchild) and 15 great grandchildren: Joey, Ivy, Raymond, Noah, Izaiah, Raymond, Tristan, Faith, Trinity, Mason, Elle, Crue, Vera, Grayson and Asher.  The Goodmans span back 7 generations in the Ray County area.  Norman has one sister, Joyce Houser who resides with her husband Terry in O'Fallon, Missouri.  There are also numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Norman was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Michael Lee Goodman.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Richmond Christian Chapel with Rev.
