OTHO NICKELL, JR.

Otho Nickell, Jr., 96, of Richmond, MO died Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at his home.

Otho was born on January 11, 1920 in Holiday, MO to Otho and Edna (Stevens) Nickell, Sr,. He married Juanita Voehl of Paris, MO on August 31, 1952. She preceded him in death on September 2, 2007.

Survivors include one son, William Nickell of Richmond; two daughters, Connie Nickell of Rayville, MO and Mary Reynolds of Richmond; one brother and sister-in-law, Wesley and Virginia Nickell of Paris, MO; 6 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one son-in-law, Ronnie Walker of Richmond.

In addition to his parents and wife, Otho was preceded in death by one daughter, Pamela Walker; one brother, James Nickell; and four sisters, Thelma Calder, Louise Taylor, Millie Stanley, Josephine Willis and 1 grandson, Mick Bodine.

Otho was a United States Army Veteran of WWII, receiving a bronze star. He worked at Ford Motor Company as a receiving inspector for 30 years before retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Excelsior Springs Church of Christ. He had lived in Paris, MO before moving to Richmond in 1960. Otho was an avid fiddle player, affectionately known as the fiddle man, playing with the Country Music Makers and often playing at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond for the patients to enjoy.

The family suggests memorials be made to the St. Jude's Hospital for Children, or any other hospitals for children.
