RACHEL MAY MILLER

Rachel May Miller, 94, of Carrollton, MO died Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the Life Care Center in Carrollton, MO.

Rachel was born on May 28, 1921 in Norborne, MO to Russell Lee and Lura Ann (Sebastian) Tweedie. She married Stanley Jay Miller of Rural Carrollton on September 1, 1940. He preceded her in death on August 25, 2008.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Miller of Carrollton; one son, Norman Miller of Carrollton; one sister, Lois Forsythe of Carrollton; 4 grandchildren, Stacey (David) Gurule', Heather (Pete) Sobbing, Lorena (Russel) Pryor and Jay Miller; 10 great-grandchildren, August Sobbing, Maggie Sobbing, Stanley Jacob Sobbing, Lily Pryor, Mellody Pryor, Sheila Pryor, Julie Pryor, Cora Jean Pryor, Aiden Gurule' and Silas Gurule'; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Rachel was preceded in death by one brother, Virgil Tweedie and one sister, Betty Poyner.

Rachel graduated from Stet High School and then attended MU. She was a homemaker. She was known for her sewing, gardening, cooking and especially her pies. She was a 4-H leader, Girl's Auxiliary leader and a church camp counselor at Grand Oaks.  Her consuming interest was her family and serving in many capacities at McCroskie Creek Baptist Church.  Rachel lived most of her life in the area of her birth.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Southern Baptist Cooperative Program.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the McCroskie Creek Baptist Church, E Hwy west of Carrollton. Visitation will be Monday, March 28, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Norborne, MO. Burial will be in the Fairhaven Cemetery in Norborne.
